I'm not asking a question, instead I'm answering two different ones, the first being:
A large boulder falls from a cliff located 1,044 meters away from a herd of elephants. The temperature of the air is 29°C. How long after the boulder crashes will the elephants hear the sound?
3.20 sec
3.00 sec
0.30 sec
30 sec
Ok, so first we need to find how fast sound travels in 29 degrees celsius
To find this we use the formula:
VT=331 m/s+0.6 m/s (29 degrees celsius)= 348.4 m/s
Now that we know the speed we can finish the problem
Since velocity=distance/time, time=distance/velocity
1,044 meters/348.4 m/s= 2.99 seconds, or approximately 3 seconds.

Next question:
A large boulder falls from a cliff located 1,044 kilometers away from a herd of elephants. The temperature of the air is 29°C. At what rate does the sound of the crashing boulder travel toward the elephants?
331 m/s
334 m/s
36 m/s
348 m/s

We answered this in the first part of the other question;
VT= 331 m/s +0.6 m/s (29 degrees celsius) = 348.4 m/s which is approximately 348 m/s

I got both of these answers right, let me know if you need further clarification, hope this helps whoever need it! You got this!! : )

Engineers find a new metal that is stronger than steel but much lighter. this material is also significantly cheaper than what is currently used for most aircraft, available in large quantities, and easy to manufacture. the engineers are excited because this new material will lower the costs of buying and operating airplanes for companies. what is probably the best step for the engineers to make next?
