A rod having a mass of M= 77 grams and a length of d= 36 cm is positioned vertically on a frictionless, horizontal axle passing through its center. The rod is free to rotate about the axle, and the mass of the rod is uniformly distributed. A small cube of clay, of mass m=10 grams , is sliding horizontally on a slick surface at a speed of v0= 2.3 m/s when hits and sticks to the very bottom tip of the rod.

Part AWhat is the spin rate of the clay and rod system immediately after the collision, before the rod-clay unit has had enough time to swing upward by any significant amount?Part BHow much kinetic energy was converted to thermal energy in this collision?Part CAfter the collision, to what maximum angle, measured from vertical, does the rod (with the attached wad of clay) rotate before it momentarily comes to rest?Give the angles in degrees, measured from the vertical.

Click the game tab at the bottom of the simulation and select level 1. (there is no seesaw balance for this part of the activity.) balance the first equation, and click check to see if you got it right. if you can’t balance it in the first try, you can try again. work through the five equations for level 1. click continue to go on to level 2, and later level 3. each level is more difficult than the one before. keep trying until all the equations are balanced. in one or two sentences, describe how you did in the balancing game. in a few more sentences, explain one strategy you learned for balancing more complex equations.

Aleaky 10-kg bucket is lifted from the ground to a height of 15 m at a constant speed with a rope that weighs 0.7 kg/m. initially the bucket contains 45 kg of water, but the water leaks at a constant rate and finishes draining just as the bucket reaches the 15-m level. find the work done. (use 9.8 m/s2 for g.) show how to approximate the required work by a riemann sum. (let x be the height in meters above the ground. enter xi* as xi.) lim n → ∞ n (9.8)(45−3 xi) i = 1 δx express the work as an integral. 0 dx evaluate the integral. (round your answer to the nearest integer.) j
