A construction crew wants to hoist a heavy beam so that it is standing up straight, perpendicular with the ground. They tie a rope to the beam, secure the base, and pull the rope through a pulley to raise one end of the beam from the ground. When the beam makes an angle of 40° with the ground, the top of the beam is 8 ft above the ground. The construction site has some telephone wires crossing it. The workers are concerned that the beam may hit the wires. When the beam makes an angle of 60° with the ground, the wires are 2 ft above the top of the beam. Will the beam clear the wires on its way to standing up straight? Explain.

The chart shows the costs and shipping times for materials that a company needs to build a new product. which describes the best trade-off if the company needs to start building their product within the next two years? they should order the domestic materials because it is always best to choose the fastest shipping time. they should order the imported materials because it is always best to choose the lowest cost for materials. since the shipping time is longer, they should order the domestic materials because the additional cost is worth it to get the materials in time. even though the shipping time is longer, they should order the imported materials because they are less expensive and should arrive in plenty of time to build the product.
