When the charged rod which was held near the top of a polarized electroscope is removed, the excess electrons at the top of the electroscope return to the leafs and the leafs of this electroscope return to the neutral position. Explain the behavior of electrons during this process in terms of forces acting on the electrons while the charged rod is near the electroscope and after the rod is removed.
