Radium has 88 protons in its nucleus and has no stable isotopes (all are radioactive). Suppose one could break apart such a nucleus to form two equal sized nuclei with 44 protons each that are at rest and just touching after the fission process. Assume each has a radius of 5.5×10−15. Calculate the kinetic energy that each of the nuclei will have when they are very far apart.
