Consider two identical objects released from rest high above the surface of Earth. (Neglect air resistance for this question.)
In Case 1, the object is released from a height above the surface of Earth equal to 1 Earth radius, and its kinetic energy just before it hits Earth is K1 . In Case 2, the object is released from a height above the surface of Earth equal to 2 Earth radii, and its kinetic energy just before it hits Earth is K2 .
1. Compare the kinetic energy of the two objects just before they hit the surface of the earth.

The great sandini is a 60.0-kg circus performer who is shot from a cannon (actually a spring gun). you don’t find many men of his caliber, so you him design a new gun. this new gun has a very large spring with a very small mass and a force constant of 1100 n/m that he will compress with a force of 4400 n. the inside of the gun barrel is coated with teflon, so the average friction force will be only 40.0 n during the 4.00 m he moves in the barrel. at what speed will he emerge from the end of the barrel, 2.50 m above his initial rest position?

Suppose that a cylindrical tank 6 meters high with a radius of 2 meters is filled to the rim with water. the tank is buried so that the top of the tank is 1 meter below ground level. the space above the tank is not filled with water. calculate how much work needs to be done by a pump to pump the water out of the tank up to ground level. (the water weighs 9,800 newtons per cubic meter.)

[05.02] what is the best explanation of the kinetic molecular theory as it relates to the energy of the molecules in the states of matter? (1 point) the molecules in a gas have greater kinetic energy than those in a liquid, which in turn have greater kinetic energy than the molecules in a solid. kinetic energy cannot be created nor destroyed, and, as a result, all states of matter have the same kinetic energy. the molecules in a gas have greater kinetic energy; therefore, they are more tightly packed than the molecules in either a liquid or a solid. the molecules in gases and liquids, in constant motion, have greater kinetic energy than those in a solid, which do not move or vibrate because their position is fixed.
