3) a cylindrical water tank has a radius of r = 1 m and a hole with radius r = 2 mm cut in the wall a depth d = 1 m below the surface of the water. (i) right as the water begins to flow from the tank through the hole, at what rate does the tank’s water level in units of mm/minute drop? first find an expression in terms of r, r, d, and g. then substitute numbers. you should find 1.06 mm/minute. (ii) find a similar expression in terms of r, r, d and g for the exit velocity of the water from the hole. substitute numbers to find 4.4 m/s. (iii) how would the answers to parts (i) and (ii) change if the tank were filled with mercury, which is much denser than water? give a conceptual/physical argument for why your answer makes sense.
