On a particularly foggy night, a boat travels due east at 10 m/s. there are safety lights, but with the low visibility, the captain opts to sound the horn for 3 seconds every 5 seconds. the captain hears a beat frequency on the third blast he watches his compass and turns hard port maintaining the turn. when he no longer hears the beat, he straightens out his heading.
