The program gives you feedback by turning the squares green if the letter you chose is in the word to be guessed and black if it is not. You play by guessing 5 letter words. Try it, it’s fun. Here’s the link. Wordle Click on Wordle – the New York Times. I want to know the probability of guessing the right letters on the first try. I am making the simplifying assumption that the order of the correct letters does not matter. Treat each choice of a letter as independent and use the facts that there are 26 letters in the alphabet, and you have 5 tries, to calculate the probability. The same letter can appear twice.

What is the probability of guessing all five correct letters on the first try? Explain how you arrived at your answer.
