1. Our new swimming team will use the pool for diving practice. Therefore, the pool must be safe for diving. The deep end must be at least 12 feet deep and must extend at least 5 yards
from the end of the pool.
2. The pool must be a regulation-size pool (25 yards long, at least 42 feet wide).
3. Community Education wants to teach beginning swim lessons at the pool. You must have a
shallow end that will allow 6-year-olds to stand with their head above the water (3 feet).
4. The bottom of the shallow end must be slanted to accommodate learners of all levels, but
city regulations state that the angle of depression of the bottom must be less than or equal
to 5°
5. For safety reasons, the drop-off in the transition zone must be slanted. Furthermore, the
transition zone may not begin until the pool has reached a depth of 6 feet.
