A consultant claims that the amount of time urban children ages 3-5 watch television per week has a mean of 24.6 hours. A market research firm believes that this claim is too high by at least one hour. It collects data for a random sample of 25 urban children ages 3-5. The mean weekly amount of time spent watching television in the sample is 21.5 hours with the sample standard devi- ation of 6.2 hours. Is there evidence in the data that that the mean watching time is by at least one hour less than what consultant claims? a) To answer the question carry out the hypothesis test at a =0.05.(State the hypothesis test, rejection rule and your conclusion)
b) What assumption did you have to make to carry out the hypothesis test?
c) With your conclusion what type of error can you make?
d) Find the p-value of the test using Minotab and interpret it.
