Please number your responses to the questions as they are shown (1, 2a, and 2b). A student in your class says the following.

"I'm having a hard time with this lesson, because the rules for rational exponents are so different than the rules for integer exponents."

Write a response to your classmate's comment. State whether you agree or disagree with the comment and why.

a. Choose one of the rules for rational exponents. Explain it to your classmate using complete sentences.

b. Create a problem and use it to show your classmate how your strategy works. Use complete sentences in your explanation.
To clarify, a response of "I agree with her" or "I disagree with her" will earn no credit.

The question is, are the rules for rational exponent and integer exponents "so different" and, WHY.

I would focus on the product, quotient or power of powers rules for both part 1 and 2, and compare the two in the course (the rational and integer rules).

Aspacecraft can attain a stable orbit 300 kilometers above earth if it reaches a velocity of 7.7 kilometers per second. the formula for a rocket's maximum velocity v in kilometers per second is vequalsminus0.0098tplusc ln upper r, where t is the firing time in seconds, c is the velocity of the exhaust in kilometers per second, and r is the ratio of the mass of the rocket filled with fuel to the mass of the rocket without fuel. find the velocity of a spacecraft whose booster rocket has a mass ratio of 20, an exhaust velocity of 2.1 km/s, and a firing time of 15 s. can the spacecraft achieve a stable orbit 300 km above earth?
