Part 3 Jason’s Aunt Betty is sending him on a trip to New York to visit and celebrate his
graduation! Unfortunately, Jason has motion sickness and must take medicine
before boarding Amtrak. Jason has decided to take 50mg of dimenhydrinate for his
motion sickness. Suppose that 85% of this medication remains in the bloodstream
after 1 hour.
 Represent the amount of dimenhydrinate in Jason’s bloodstream for the first
4 hours of taking the drug. Let t be the number of hours after reaching its
peak level of 50 mg (t = 0). Explain how you determined the amount of
dimenhydrinate in Jason’s bloodstream.

 Write an exponential function for the amount of dimenhydrinate in Jason’s
bloodstream t hours after reaching its peak level of 50mg. How long does it
take for Jason to have only half the amount of dimenhydrinate in his blood
stream? Explain your thinking.
 At what level might you consider Jason’s bloodstream cleared of
dimenhydrinate? Why did you choose this level?
 Using your established criteria, hind how long it takes for the
dimenhydrinate to clear Jason’s bloodstream. If the trip takes 18 hours, will
the medicine have had enough time to clear his system? Explain how you
found your solution.
