Based on their experience with their packaging machine, a manufacturer of breakfast cereal believes that the weight of Cheery-O's cereal boxes is 28 ounces with a standard deviation of 1.1 ounces. Fifty boxes are packed into each case. Suppose we look at the mean weight of the 50 boxes in a
case. Imagine all the possible random samples of 50 boxes we could take and the distribution of the mean weight within those samples.
a) What would the shape of the sampling distribution look like? Explain how you know.
b) What would be the center (mean) of that distribution?
c) What would be the standard deviation of that distribution? (show work)
d) Use the Empirical Rule to sketch the sampling model. Label percentages and values clearly for full credit.
