We know that for $17.50, we can get 5 gallons of gas. How much would you get with $49.00?
1. To jump from 17.50 to 49.00, it takes 2.8 times. In other words, 17.50 times 2.8 is 49.00. (found this out by doing 49/17.50).
2. After this, we can multiply 5 times 2.8 which gets us 14, our answer!
