You want to park your boat at a local boat dock at 1pm but we are in a drought and you need to make sure
that the water will be high enough. Your boat will get stuck if the tide is not at least 7 feet high. The high
tide is at 5:00 am and a low tide at 10:00 am. At the low tide the water depth is 4 feet and at the high tide
the water depth is at 10 feet.
1. Sketch a graph to represent the height o the water at any given time after midnight. Graph at least 2 periods of the tide cycle
2. Identify all relevant parts of the graph
3. Write 2 general equations of the function (one as a cosine function and one as a sine function)
4. Use 2 different mathematical methods to find the height of the tide at 12.5 hours after midnight and then verify that answer. (Discuss the role each mathematical Mathis has in answering this question)
