People of the past and present judge each other by their class. This could relate to how much wealth they have as well as their social class or economic status. These judgements separate us as a society and live our lives around these judgments. Class in simple words is a group of people or things categorized by the quality and economic status. This relates to the novel "The Great Gatsby" by some of the characters in the novel such as Tom and Daisy Buchanan.

I don't know why you are defining class here but there might be some context I'm missing. In most scenarios though, defining a term is not a priority and is defentetly making the introduction run on for a while.

I would add a sentence before the last sentence futher tying in what your introduction has to relate with the book or at least some words like: "and this is shown in the Great Gabsy" or something like that
