In slope-intercept form, y is isolated, or by itself, on one side of the equation. You may see the equation for a line written in a different form, in which y is not isolated. You can rewrite the equation in slope-intercept form by doing the same operations on both sides of the equation to isolate y. For example, you can isolate y in the equation x = 2y + 8 by first subtracting 8 from both sides of the equation and then dividing both sides by 2. You’ll wind up with the equation in slope-intercept form: y = 1/2x - 4.

Which equation is not written in slope-intercept form?

A

y + 1 = 3x

B

y = -x - 7

C

y = 3x - 1

D

y = -x
