Solve each of the problems below and explain your answer. You may write and solve equations if you wish. "No solution" or "not possible" is a valid answer. If you believe a problem is not possible to be solved, you
must explain why you believe it is impossible (further than that you could not come up with an answer, try to
explain why it's happening that there is no solution.)
1. The scales are balanced when there is 1 mystery bag and 42 ounces of weight on one side and 2 mystery
bags and 33 ounces of weight on the other side. How much does each mystery bag weigh? Assume that all
bags weigh the same amount.
2. The scales are balanced when there are 6 mystery bags and 13 ounces of weights on one side and 6
mystery bags and 14 ounces of weights on the other side. How much does each mystery bag weigh? Assume
that all bags weigh the same amount.
3. The scales are balanced when there are 15 mystery bags and 7 ounces of weights on one side and 15
mystery bags and 7 ounces of weights on the other side. How much does each mystery bag weigh? Assume
that all bags weigh the same amount.
