Guys I need major help will give a lot of points if you answer this like a lot of points! Four members of a study team were analyzing the sequence 3, 7, 11, … They found the equation for the sequence to be t(n) = 4n − 1, and they were trying to figure out if 200 could be a term of their sequence.
They made the following statements. Which students justified their statements? Are the justifications convincing? Explain why or why not.
Shinna: “I think it’s not, because all the terms in the sequence are odd and 200 is an even number.”
Aldo: “I think it is, because the equation 200 = 4n – 1 has a solution.”
James: “It can’t be, because the solution to 200 = 4n – 1 is n = 50.25, which is not a whole number. There can’t be a 50.25th term!”
Leslie: “I think 199 and 203 are terms of the sequence, but not 200.”
Now create your own sequence. Then figure out what the 110th term of your sequence would be and whether the number 419 is a term in your sequence. Use multiple representations to justify your answers thoroughly.
