Josh works for a construction company that uses 150 pounds of gravel for each driveway they pour.
He can buy a dump truck load with 30,000 pounds of gravel or a pick-up truck load with 2,500 pounds.
Which amount should he buy so that no gravel is left after all of the driveways are poured and why?
A.
Josh should buy the pick-up truck load because 2,500 ÷ 150 = 16 23. There is enough gravel to
pour 16 driveways with 100 pounds of gravel left. You cannot divide 30,000 ÷ 150 evenly.
B.
Josh should buy the pick-up truck load because 2,500 ÷ 150 = 160 23. There is enough gravel to
pour 160 driveways with 100 pounds of gravel left. You cannot divide 30,000 ÷ 150 evenly.
C.
Josh should buy the dump truck load because 30,000 ÷ 150 = 200. There is enough gravel to
pour 200 driveways with none left. You cannot divide 2,500 ÷ 150 evenly.
D.
Josh should buy the dump truck load because 30,000 ÷ 150 = 2,000. There is enough gravel to
pour 2,000 driveways with none left. You cannot divide 2,500 ÷ 150 evenly.

Given the system of equations presented here: 2x + 4y = 14 4x + y = 20 which of the following actions creates an equivalent system such that, when combined with the other equation, one of the variables is eliminated? multiply the second equation by â’4 to get â’16x â’ 4y = â’80 multiply the second equation by â’1 to get â’4x â’ y = â’20 multiply the first equation by 2 to get 4x + 8y = 28 multiply the first equation by â’1 to get â’2x â’ 4y = â’14
