So in this case a= 1 and c = -10. -10 x 1 = -10. -5 x 2 is equal to -10 and -5 + 2 gets you -3, which is b.

x-9+x-9+3x-4+3x-4=138

if we simplify it:

8x-26=138

remember, 138 is what it all adds up to
