He has $18 saved. If he gets the same amount from his brother and sister, what is the smallest amount each sibling contributes?

Andy wrote the following scenario: Alex has saved her money from a summer job. She has a minimum of $30 saved at the begging of the week. She spent $18 at the movie. If she splits the money equally between her savings account and a gift for her mom, what is the most she can spend on her gift?
