Project: Math is everywhere Rene Descartes, a French mathematician once stated, “With me everything turns into mathematics.” In this lesson, we learned that images can be used to help us understand and learn about mathematics. Artists such as Maurits Cornelis Escher used math as an influence. assignment Directions: Create a presentation containing at least ten different images that use mathematical concepts in real life. For example, an image of a staircase demonstrates the use of triangles in real life. Triangles are used in the construction of most staircases. The images you use can include, but are not limited to, drawings, pictures, paintings, or sketches. Be creative and have fun! assignment Guidelines: Your presentation should include: a title; at least ten different images; each image must demonstrate a mathematical concept; each image should have a title and text explaining the mathematical concept; a reference page. Be sure to make your presentation visually appealing. Your project should: be well-organized; contain appropriate language; contain proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; contain information from credible sources. (Only use credible sources when researching topics. A credible source provides accurate information on the subject matter. If you are using information from a blog, identify the author and check to see if the author is an expert in the field. Some credible sources are government agencies (.gov) educational articles (.edu), and mental health journals. If you are unsure of whether a website is credible, identify the author and see if the person/organization is an expert. Do not use Wikipedia as a source. Wikipedia has advice, opinions, and information from a variety of people, some of whom are not experts in the field and may be providing incorrect information. If you are not sure about a website, ask the instructor for help. Submission Requirements: Your project should be: submitted electronically; double-spaced if it is a writing assignment; in PowerPoint presentation format; submitted by the due date set by the instructor. (If you experience technical difficulties submitting your project, inform your instructor right away); original (If direct quotations are included, they should be cited). Your instructor will inform you how to name the files you submit. Question # 1 File Upload Submit your presentation containing at least ten different images that use mathematical concepts in real life. The images you use can include, but are not limited to, drawings, pictures, paintings, or sketches.

There are two major tests of readiness for college: the act and the sat. act scores are reported on a scale from 1 to 36. the distribution of act scores in recent years has been roughly normal with mean µ = 20.9 and standard deviation s = 4.8. sat scores are reported on a scale from 400 to 1600. sat scores have been roughly normal with mean µ = 1026 and standard deviation s = 209. reports on a student's act or sat usually give the percentile as well as the actual score. the percentile is just the cumulative proportion stated as a percent: the percent of all scores that were lower than this one. tanya scores 1260 on the sat. what is her percentile (± 1)?
