Jacob attempted the third problem above but when checking his work he realized he made a mistake. Identify what Jacob’s mistake was in your own words, and explain what Jacob would need to do differently to avoid making that mistake in the future: 5(x+2)-7=3x+5
5x+2-7=3x+5
5x-5=3x+5
5x-5+5=3x+5+5
5x=3x+10
5x-3x=3x-3x+10
2x=10
x=5 5[(5)+2]-7=3(5)+5
5(7)-7=3(5)+5
35-7=15+5
28=20
