n 2008, Costco sold its 24-count box of Variety Snacking Nuts for approximately $10. The box
contained 8 bags of cashews, 8 bags of almonds, and 8 bags of peanuts (Source: product labeling). A
student plans to sell the individual bags of nuts to his classmates for the following prices:
Peanuts: $0.50
Cashews and Almonds: $0.75
Let p be the number of bags of peanuts sold and n be the number of bags of cashews and almonds sold.
1. Write an inequality than means the total number of bags of nuts sold is greater than or equal to 25.
2. Write an inequality that means that the total amount of money earned from nut sales is at least $15.
3. Graph the two inequalities from Exercises 1 and 2 on the axes below and shade the solution region.

Suppose that 3% of all athletes are using the endurance-enhancing hormone epo (you should be able to simply compute the percentage of all athletes that are not using epo). for our purposes, a “positive” test result is one that indicates presence of epo in an athlete’s bloodstream. the probability of a positive result, given the presence of epo is .99. the probability of a negative result, when epo is not present, is .90. what is the probability that a randomly selected athlete tests positive for epo? 0.0297
