Here's the question: The sum of two consecutive odd integers is 236. Use algebra (showing all steps) to determine the numbers.
Now, I know that it is 117 and 118, but I don't know how to show all my steps correctly. This is what I always do with these kinds of questions:
What is the sum of two consecutive odd integers equaling 36?
36/2 = 18. 18-1=17 18+1=19
So, do I show my work like I would for 36 or is there a better way to present it for this question? This is prep for my midterm exam.
