In order to compare 1/4 of a pound with 1/3 of a pound, we take them to the same dominator.
1/4=3/12
1/3=4/12

if 3 slices weigh ................... 4/12 of a pound
   x slices weigh ................... 3/12 of a pound

He can actually eat 2 slices and a quarter.
