So on a coordinate plane, there are two variables defining a point on the plane:

x = the horizontal line

y = the vertical line.

(x,y) = ordered point.

So take the point (4,3).

In this case, 4 is the x coordinate, and 3 is the y coordinate.

To plot this: you move 4 ticks on the horizontal line (x-line), and move up on the vertical line 3 ticks (the y-line).

So let's implement this on your question:

Point D is on the vertical line at the point -5, without moving anywhere off of the line. This means that x = 0.
