The confidence interval for the mean is given by the following formula:

In order to calculate the mean and the sample deviation we can use the following formulas:

$\bar X= \sum_{i=1}^n \frac{x_i}{n}$ (2)

$s=\sqrt{\frac{\sum_{i=1}^n (x_i-\bar X)}{n-1}}$ (3)

The mean calculated for this case is $\bar X=3278.222$

The sample deviation calculated s=97.054

In order to calculate the critical value $t_{\alpha/2}$ we need to find first the degrees of freedom, given by:

df=n-1=18-1=17

The critical value for 95% of confidence interval now can be founded using the normal distribution. And in excel we can use this formla to find it:"=-NORM.INV(0.025;0;1)", and we got $z_{\alpha/2}=1.960$ , replacing into formula (5) we got:

$n=(\frac{1.960(97.054)}{20})^2 =90.46 \approx 91$

So the answer for this case would be n=91 rounded up to the nearest integer
