Looking at the plot, i determined that the explorer 35's orbit is 11,400 km* across its long dimension. use this distance to find the orbit's semimajor axis in kilometers. * since the lines on the plot indicate lunar radii, i actually measured it to be 6.57 across, and then i multiplied by the radius of the moon: 1738 km.
