Since she started her observation of the cyclist  the first equation would be y=12x where 12 is the speed and x is the amount of hours, and y would be total distance traveled. the first part would be Y=12X from 0 to 2, where 0 is the starting point of Malia's observations, and 2 is where the cyclist started going 15KH. at X=2, Y=24

the second part would be Y=15X-6, again Y is the total distance traveled, 15 is the speed of which the cyclist is traveling. X is the amount of time in hours. and in this case it would be -6 at the end which continues the graph from (2,24) which is the point (Y=12X from o to 2) ended at.
the full equation is Y=15X-6 from 2 to 5.

the full answer is Y=12X from 0 to 2, Y=15X-6 from 2 to 5.
