As was noted at the start of the chapter, Ellis Rollins was sentenced to 18 months probation, required to pay a fine, and required to perform community service for his crime. Some people familiar with this case probably disagree with the sentence that was imposed.

1. Do you think any conditions should accompany Rollins probation? Mental health treatment? How often should he report to his probation officer?

2. If you were the sentencing judge, would you include any intermediate sanctions in Rollins sentence? House arrest? Community service? Describe how you would fashion his sentence, and identify the correctional goals it would achieve.
