The law reflects the idea that marriage and the family are essential to the
strength of society. As a result, the law affects families and family life. Below
is a survey that asks for your ideas about law and the family. For each state-
ment, decide whether you strongly agree (SA), agree (A), are undecided
(U), disagree (D), or strongly disagree (SD). Discuss your answers.
a. The process for getting married should be more difficult.
b. A wife and a husband should have an equal say about all decisions in
their marriage.
c. Adopted children should have the right to know the identity of their
birth parents.
d. Mothers with small children should not work outside the home.
e. One parent should stay home with children until they reach school age.
f. All children should be required to go to school until age 18.
g. Parents should be able to discipline their children in any way they see fit.
