A lighthearted article in New England Journal of Medicine noted that there is a strong relationship between the per capita consumption of chocolate in a given nation and the number of Nobel Prize winners produced by that nation. One conclusion readily presents itself: People who consume more chocolate are smarter and therefore national populations that consume more chocolate produce more Nobel winners . But how else could this relationship be interpreted ? Be precise , be skeptical , look at the evidence , and offer some alternative interpretations .
