An act to enforce the fifteenth amendment to the constitution of the united states, and for other purposes. be it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the united states of america in congress assembled, that this act shall be known as the "voting rights act of 1965." sec. 2. no voting qualification or prerequisite to voting, or standard, practice, or procedure shall be imposed or applied by any state or political subdivision to deny or abridge the right of any citizen of the united states to vote on account of race or color. each of these facts is supported by this document except that a) the act was meant to enforce the fifteenth amendment. b) the act was given the name “voting rights act of 1965.” c) the act should have been passed in 1870, along with the fifteenth amendment. d) the act prohibits states from denying citizens the right to vote based on race or color.
