Philosopher john locke had a great influence on the thinking of the colonists who led the rebellion against the king of england. what do you suppose locke meant when he wrote the following passage? no government can have a right to obedience from a people who have not freely consented to it—till either they are put in a full state of liberty to choose their government and governors, or at least till they have such standing laws, to which they have by themselves or their representatives given their free consent. 1)the colonists should have the right to vote for a new king. 2)the colonists should be punished for failing to pledge obedience to the king of england. 3)all people should have the right to choose their leaders. 4)every person must give up their rights if they want to live in a society.
