Abu Bakr was the most confidential associate and companion of Muhammad who turned to be the first Muslim caliph. He was one of the earliest men who was converted to Islam and was preferred by the Prophet as his comrade on the Hijrah to Medina.

Fortuitously, the inhabitants instantly chose the Prophet's close associate and father-in-Law Abu Bakr, as his heir. As Caliph, Abu Bakr carried all of central Arabia under Muslim administration and was victorious in disseminating Islam further through subjugation. Abu Bakr (ca. 573-634) was Mohammed successor. He was the first caliph and ruler of the Arab state. During his reign, he promoted Mohammed legacy. Abu bakr maintained the political structure that was created by Mohammed in medina, spread Islam into Syria and Iraq and was able to defeat rebellion from the separatists group in Arab state.

Abu Bakr was from the tribe of Quraysh, Born in Mecca and was a merchant. He was a good friend of Mohammed, although Mohammed was three years older than him. Abu Bakr was primarily the first person to accept Mohammed as prophet and later converted to Islam.  

Following Abu bakr conversion to Islam, he was devoted to the cause of Islam. He spent his money in buying and liberating Moslem slaves. In Arab, Abu Bakre suffered humiliation from Mohammed enemies. Although, Abu Bakr”s tribe supported and protected him.  

Mohammed and Abu Bakr were very close friends to the extent that Abu Bakr was the only person that joined him on his Hijra, which is the movement from Mecca to Medina in 622.

In 624, Mohammed married Abu Bakr’s daughter and this further strengthened their friendship.

Following Mohammed death in June 632, Abu Bakr became the caliph, although his reign was marred with serious revolts.
