What trends led to the suffrage movement in 1890s

Virginia Wolf has a wonderful book (3 guineas) where she explain the women injustices regarding education, unfair employers, lower wages that men, etc. But  they became more educated and started to rise their voice in society, to ask for better working conditions, fair employers and to be well treated.
