On the issue of Mexican group's attack on Americans (in North of the Rio Grande United States), the Senate of the U.S voted to go to war with Mexico. Whereas, the Northerner's lawmakers were worried that a war with Mexico would promote the expansion of the Slavery as Mexicans claimed the land as their own territory. Many of the Southerners supported this Conflict just because they knew that America had the potential to win the war and that it would supplement them with more land (beneficial to agriculture where slaves would be required for the field) hence, they took it as an opportunity to gain more slave States.
