The major factor that lead to tension and revolution in America in the period of 1763-1776 was Stamp Act.

Explanation:

Stamp Act was intended to lives a direct tax on American colonists in order to increase British revenue to remove their debt payments. In this tax, colonists were taxed on legal documents, newspapers, and other papers, which werw in printed form. Thus, it helped Britishers to earn more revenue to build their military power.

However, it was the major factor that flued the American revolution as the tax was violating their rights. Thus, a protest against the British was started aggressively in the year 1763 -1776.
