Wallace used ethos to support the claim that Alabama has the right to continue policies of racial segregation. He referenced the US Constitution that says states should have their own rights. America does not have a king, and rights are divided among the states. Therefore, he says states should decide on issues of segregation.

George C. Wallace who was once the governor of Alabama made a speech in 1968 that was titled, "Segregation Now, Segregation Forever." In his speech, pathos was used to solicit support from the Southerners across America and their western counterparts. In this excerpt from the speech, Wallace tries to evoke sympathy and the spirit of brotherliness from the citizens whose support he needed to move forward his aim.

George Wallace was an American leader who was in support of the racial discrimination against blacks. He opposed the move of having blacks attend the same public schools as whites. He used pathos thus;we invite you to come and be with us . . for you are of the Southern spirit . . and the Southern philosophy . . . you are Southerners too and brothers with us in our fight.He also pushed against the inclusion of blacks in the voting system. In his speech above, he campaigned for the continued segregation of blacks and used the rhetorical appeal called pathos to foster unity and support among other whites.
