Teaching about the suffrage movement builds empathy; helping students to understand the passion and fury felt by women of the later 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as those involved in anti-suffrage campaigns.

The Suffragettes dared to be brave and worked for change. Increasingly frustrated at the lack of support, they made their stand for the right to vote and have representation with a motto of “deeds not words”. The bravery of these deeds was wide ranging. Change was needed and this came with many faces.
