Most of these men were Harding's old friends, who helped him back in Ohio. They were his poker buddies that had no interest in politics on a national scale. Most of these men would end up using their elite power to benefit themselves, which would then damage Hardings administration. Because Harding refused to stand up to his overpowering friends his Presidency was ruined from scFrom 1921 to 1924 the Ohio Gang was involved in a number of scandals and illegal deals.
