HELP ASAP! Why did Jefferson support and strengthen the Embargo Acts? What was his goal in limiting trade between the United States and France/ Great Britain?

President Thomas Jefferson hoped that the Embargo Act of 1807 would help the United States by demonstrating to Britain and France their dependence on American goods, convincing them to respect American neutrality and stop impressing American seamen.

this was done so the church could remain in control of what their teachings were and to enhance their importance and power, while also being able to judge people's actions through information that was unavailable for the general public.
