3. Describe how the expectations of women in the British colonies were similar for white women of British descent and African women who were enslaved. What expectations were different for each group of women? (6 points)

They were all enslaved because they were known as objects

White women were expected to be married by age 20. They were to obey their
husbands, raise their kids and work in the home. White women also faced limitations
such as schooling, jobs and divorce. African women were enslaved and forced to
work in the fields, while raising their children. African and white women were not allowed to attend school and had little education, such as reading and writing.

The transcontinental railroad provided a means of fast transportation. it cut a 6 month trip into 6 days, created jobs for many people and encouraged immigration. the homestead act played a huge role in western expansion; it allowed settlers to begin a fresh start, and gave them land in exchange for their residence for up to five years and a small fee.
