It is often said that the United States was founded on the principles of freedom of religion. After reading the documents, to what extent is this a valid statement and/or what would be a better understanding of the role of religion in the settlement of the United States?

i'd assume india mainly because of how isolated japan was.   plus it is a whole china away.
