Which statement best describes how the resolution in the story contributes to
the theme?
Tony's favorite day of the year was his birthday because his parents
always gave him a lot of presents. Tony's parents saw how happy Tony
was when he opened each present, and it made them happy too. As
Tony got older, his parents realized that Tony had never given a gift to
anyone. They decided that, with his younger brother's birthday
approaching, Tony should get a small gift for him. Tony saved up his
allowance and bought his brother a toy truck. On his brother's birthday,
Tony gave him the gift. His brother tore into the bright red-and-blue-
striped paper. His eyes lit up when he saw the truck. He leaped from
the floor and gave Tony a huge hug. Tony loved getting gifts, but now
he loved giving them as well.
Theme: Giving a gift to someone can be a surprisingly meaningful
experience.
