The U.S's capitalistic economic plan would not fully encourage countries to side with western democracy as many factories and paying jobs were destroyed due to European fighting. Locations would play a big role as being closer to "Mother Russia", birthplace of communism would have instrumental impact on being swindled into becoming communistic. The idea that every country around you has communistic ties would eventually run rampant throughout your country. Distance plays a large role as control is harder to maintain.
