What reason did President James K Polk give when he asked Congress to declare war against Mexico

In late April 1846, Mexican troops crossed the Rio Grande and killed eleven U.S. soldiers. In response, Polk requested a declaration of war from Congress, arguing that Mexicans had "shed the blood of our fellow-citizens on our own soil." By May 13, 1846, both nations officially were at war.

so, although the first graphic located at the left side indicates that not so many people work in industry, this is the second most important sector according to the gdp metrics because of the monetary value that impacts on its country. it does not need to be the most valuable one. if it makes an impact on the country's economy, it will be definitely crucial to it.
